LISTENING LESSONS
Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood
I have been thinking about Fred Rogers lately. He was the creator of a show for children called Mr. Rogers' neighborhood. It was on PBS after Sesame Street when I was a kid. I used to watch his show every day. He taught children many lessons about life. He explained difficult topics to them. Most of all, he taught kids to be kind. There is a new show for kids called Daniel Tiger, which is based on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
He said many things that inspire people. Here are two of his quotations.
1. Often when you think you're at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else."
2. There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind."
I found a video you can watch about his show and article you can read and listen to. You will see a lot of past tense verbs.

Watch another video with his famous opening theme song.
If you want to know more, you can watch a longer video about his show.
When we are children, many people teach us lessons. Sometimes our family members teach us. Sometimes we learn from teachers. Sometimes we learn from people on TV. I don't remember a lot of shows I used to watch as a child, but I remember a lot about Mr. Rogers. Who did you learn from as a kid?

Making Coffee 5/4/2020
In this video, I show you how I make coffee every morning. You will hear the simple present tense because I am describing a routine. It is something we do every day. After you watch the video, you can read the transcript.
Transcript
Good morning Everyone. It’s 6:30 in the morning, so that means it’s time for coffee. Do you like coffee in the morning? Do you drink coffee everyday? I usually drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning. I like dark coffee. That means the beans have been roasted for a longer amount of time. It produces a strong flavor. This is how I make coffee every morning. I use a Chemex. You need special filters for a chemex. Here are the filters. So, first, I put some water on the stove to boil, and then I put the filter into the top of the chemex. I scoop 10 tablespoons of coffee into the Chemex filter. I use ground coffee, but sometimes I buy whole beans, and I grind my own coffee. When the water boils, I pour a little coffee(I meant to say water!) over the top of the coffee and I let it drip …. and I wait until all the water absorbs, and then I pour a little more, and I repeat the process until the coffee gets just about here. That’s how I like it.
Finally, I pour the coffee into a mug and add a tiny bit of milk and I enjoy my coffee. How do you prepare coffee? What kind of coffee do you like? Or, do you prefer tea? You can email me to tell me your answer and make sure you check my website because I posted another video there about coffee around the world. I hope you have a wonderful morning, and I’ll talk to you soon.
