Transcript

Today, I will talk about another way to practice English at home. This is a strategy for practicing and learning new vocabulary. Go to a place you like. It can be a park, the beach, or a room in your house. You can even just look out the window. For example, Right now I am at the beach. I enjoy spending time at the beach, especially now when I can’t go to work to see all of you. At the beach, I like to use my 5 senses and I ask some questions. What do you see? I see sand, water, rocks, a small island. What do you hear? I hear the water.I hear some birds chirping. What do you feel? I feel the cool breeze on my face and the rocks that I’m sitting on. What do you smell? I smell the salty air. What do you taste? Hmmm. Right now, I don’t taste anything. You should write down all the words you think of. If you don’t know the word in English, you can write it in your language and translate it later. This activity will help you build your vocabulary in English. You can write just the things you see, or you can describe those things with adjectives. For example, I see calm blue water. I see many small rocks and some big rocks. I see thin white clouds. I hope you try this activity while you are not in school. Have a great day!
